New York Public Library Very Exciting Exhibition!!!!!

I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library.
We couldn’t agree more with legendary writer Jorge Luis Borges, whose birthday is today. Happy birthday! Want to see the manuscript of his La loteria en Babilonia? It’s being shown as part of our FREE exhibition Celebrating 100 Years at the landmark Stephen A. Schwarzman Building on 42nd Street. See over 250 rare items from our collections, including artifacts belonging to Charles Dickens, Malcolm X, Charlotte Bronte, John Coltrane, Bob Dylan and on and on and on. See you there!

Something For Everyone At William Barnacle Tavern

You can't get a Budweiser or Coors at Theatre Link; the first is a matter and the second is a matter of good taste. So say Lorcan Otway, the proprietor.
What you can get is everything from a three dollar Rheingold to a 100 dollar shot of 25 year old Talisker Single Malt Scotch Whiskey.

A good whisky should be old enough to walk in to a bar and order itself, jokes Otway.

Jean Sent me This thanks! Where to Go During an Earthquake from Doug Copp’s article

Here are some helpful tips as to what to do during an earthquake.

See pictures at bottom....
Subject:  Where to Go During an Earthquake

My name is Doug Copp. I am the Rescue Chief and Disaster Manager of the
American Rescue Team International (ARTI ), the world's most experienced
rescue team. The information in this article will save lives in an

I have crawled inside 875 collapsed buildings, worked with rescue teams
from 60 countries, founded rescue teams in several countries, and I am a
member of many rescue teams from many countries. I was the United Nations
expert in Disaster Mitigation for two years, and have worked at every
major disaster in the world since 1985, except for simultaneous disasters.

The first building I ever crawled inside of was a school in Mexico City
during the 1985 earthquake. Every child was under its desk. Every child
was crushed to the thickness of their bones. They could have survived by
lying down next to their desks in the aisles. It was obscene --

Simply stated, when buildings collapse, the weight of the ceilings falling
upon the objects or furniture inside crushes these objects, leaving a
space or void next to them - NOT under them. This space is what I call the
'triangle of life'. The larger the object, the stronger, the less it will
compact. The less the object compacts, the larger the void, the greater
the probability that the person who is using this void for safety will not
be injured. The next time you watch collapsed buildings, on television,
count the 'triangles' you see formed. They are everywhere. It is the most
common shape, you will see, in a collapsed building.

1) Most everyone who simply 'ducks and covers' when building collapse are
crushed to death. People who get under objects, like desks or cars, are

2) Cats, dogs and babies often naturally curl up in the fetal position.
You should too in an earthquake. It is a natural safety/survival instinct.
You can survive in a smaller void. Get next to an object, next to a sofa,
next to a bed, next to a large bulky object that will compress slightly
but leave a void next to it.

3) Wooden buildings are the safest type of construction to be in during an
earthquake. Wood is flexible and moves with the force of the earthquake.
If the wooden building does collapse, large survival voids are created..
Also, the wooden building has less concentrated, crushing weight. Brick
buildings will break into individual bricks. Bricks will cause many
injuries but less squashed bodies than concrete slabs.

4) If you are in bed during the night and an earthquake occurs, simply
roll off the bed. A safe void will exist around the bed. Hotels can
achieve a much greater survival rate in earthquakes, simply by posting a
sign on the back of the door of every room telling occupants to lie down
on the floor, next to the bottom of the bed during an earthquake.

5) If an earthquake happens and you cannot easily escape by getting out
the door or window, then lie down and curl up in the fetal position next
to a sofa, or large chair.

6) Most everyone who gets under a doorway when buildings collapse is
killed. How? If you stand under a doorway and the doorjamb falls forward
or backward you will be crushed by the ceiling above. If the door jam
falls sideways you will be cut in half by the doorway. In either case, you
will be killed!

7) Never go to the stairs. The stairs have a different 'moment of
frequency' (they swing separately from the main part of the building). The
stairs and remainder of the building continuously bump into each other
until structural failure of the stairs takes place. The people who get on
stairs before they fail are chopped up by the stair treads - horribly
mutilated. Even if the building doesn't collapse, stay away from the
stairs. The stairs are a likely part of the building to be damaged. Even
if the stairs are not collapsed by the earthquake, they may collapse later
when overloaded by fleeing people. They should always be checked for
safety, even when the rest of the building is not damaged.

8) Get near the outer walls of buildings or outside of them if possible -
It is much better to be near the outside of the building rather than the
interior. The farther inside you are from the outside perimeter of the
building the greater the probability that your escape route will be

9) People inside of their vehicles are crushed when the road above falls
in an earthquake and crushes their vehicles; which is exactly what
happened with the slabs between the decks of the Nimitz Freeway. The
victims of the San Francisco earthquake all stayed inside of their
vehicles. They were all killed. They could have easily survived by getting
out and sitting or lying next to their vehicles. Everyone killed would
have survived if they had been able to get out of their cars and sit or
lie next to them. All the crushed cars had voids 3 feet high next to them,
except for the cars that had columns fall directly across them.

10) I discovered, while crawling inside of collapsed newspaper offices and
other offices with a lot of paper, that paper does not compact. Large
voids are found surrounding stacks of paper.

Spread the word and save someone's life...

The entire world is experiencing natural calamities so be prepared!

'We are but angels with one wing, it takes two to fly'

In 1996 we made a film, which proved my survival methodology to be
correct. The Turkish Federal Government, City of Istanbul , University of
Istanbul Case Productions and ARTI cooperated to film this practical,
scientific test. We collapsed a school and a home with 20 mannequins
inside. Ten mannequins did 'duck and cover,' and ten mannequins I used in
my 'triangle of life' survival method. After the simulated earthquake
collapse we crawled through the rubble and entered the building to film
and document the results. The film, in which I practiced my survival
techniques under directly observable, scientific conditions , relevant to
building collapse, showed there would have been zero percent survival for
those doing duck and cover.

There would likely have been 100 percent survivability for people using my
method of the 'triangle of life..' This film has been seen by millions of
viewers on television in Turkey and the rest of Europe , and it was seen in
the USA , Canada and Latin America on the TV program Real TV.

"Triangle of Life":

Without listening or reading, simply by looking at the following
self-explanatory photos, you can learn more than in a thousand words about
how to protect yourself during a major earthquake...

Sign Petition to Save Beautiful Historic Building Lower East Side

Sign Petition to Save Beautiful Historic Building Lower East Side

The historic buildings on the Bowery are under extreme threat. In May, New York lost the 1835 townhouse at 35 Cooper Square to a proposed tower development. The Bowery Alliance of Neighbors and others have urged the Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) to act swiftly to save the remaining historic buildings on the Bowery and the LPC listened. In June, the LPC voted to designate the circa 1818 Federal-style house at 135 Bowery as an individual landmark--but the future is still uncertain! Its landmark designation still awaits ratification in City Council where the bank that owns it will be applying tremendous pressure opposing the designation.

Please add your name to the petition to demonstrate broad public support for saving this rare surviving and intact townhouse from the Federal era. Sign the petition to tell Councilmember Margaret Chin and City Council that we do not want to lose this Bowery landmark. Click on the following link to access the petition:
Thank you for your support.

Bio Bus Mobile Science Laboratory Traveling Science Teachers East Village Watch the video on this website about the bus! It is terrific!

I wish we could borrow it to campaign against Christine Quinn for mayor. We talked about renting a bus when we fought Mike Bloomberg’s third term.

Anyway this bus is very cool and the video is worth watching.

The bus itself has solar panels and the fuel is from converted grease from restaurants.!

Bon Jovi You Support Christine Quinn Tell New Yorkers How To Live W/Out Hospitals? Peninsula Hospital Closing by Suzannah B. Troy

The footage is filmed by activist Louis Flores.

Please explain how Hank Paulson brokered a deal to bail-out banks without any pay back of the bail-outs as they walked away with multi-million dollar bonuses and no jail time.  How does that happen.

How could President Obama have put Tim Geithner in charge after he helped broker just a corrupt deal?

How could we know bail-out hospitals and what are people suppose to do if they are having a heart attack and there is no hospital near by in this densely populated city in all the boroughs with the exception of the upper East Side.

Celebrities like Matt Damon and Jorge Posada urged us to Vote for Mike Bloomberg.

Bon Jovi has already given money to real estate whore (no offense to sex workers) so Bon Jovi I ask you what are New Yorkers in the West Village suppose to do when they have a heart attack, drop dead?  That is Christine Quinn’s message as she takes money hand over fist from the Rudin family who prefer condos more than a full service hospital and they have the support of anyone that supports community crushing greed like NYU and Mitchell Moss an NYU and Rudin Family flunky will shovel manure praising John Sexton who ran and testified we needed Mike for a 3rd term.

Christine Quinn sold that lie we needed Mike for a 3rd term to help us with the economy.  Did Mike Bloomberg and Christine Quinn help you?  No.

Bon Jovi, Jorge Posada and Matt Damon did well although I am not sure any of these rich men even declare NYC as their home but they want to tell New Yorkers to vote for people like Bloomberg and Quinn who sold us for greed and stupidity the same 2 qualities that gave us the mortgage melt down and Wall St. Implosion and forced the multi-trillion dollar deficit to grow even larger bailing out rich crooks who did not deserve to be bailed out but they deserved jail for the damage they did as well as dishonesty and gross negligence.

What are going to do without hospitals?
What about Medicad and Health Insurance?

A-Rod A Fraud in Trouble Again? A-Rod, Jorge, Matt Damon Explain to NYers How to Live w/out Hospitals by Suzannah B. Troy Artist A-Rod called a fraud after steroid scandal, part of the wealthy elite that makes a fortune in NYC but finds every way to cheat so he does not have to part with the obscene amounts of money he should never have been paid the way he cheated on his wife caught in another scandal? A very emotional protest of People fighting to save yet another hospital this one in Queens should be contrasted with Juan Gonzalez's exposes on the Mets and Yankees Stadiums which continue to screw the tax payers out of mega millions. How does A-Fraud look himself in the mirror? Quite easily. With all that $$$$ he will always have good friends.

A-Rod what do you have to say about our hospitals being closed?

Matt Damon and Jorge Posada, you told New Yorkers to Vote for mayor Bloomberg and I do not think either of you declare NYC as your resident.

What do you have to say to all the People of NYC that need hospitals and have none because  Bloomberg and his puppet Christine Quinn sold the People of New York out to real estate developers?

Look at Christine Quinn’s list of donors for her mayoral run.

What do New Yorkers do if they have a heart attacks through out New York City in the different boroughs with the exception of the Upper East Side where Bloomberg and some of the richest New Yorkers live?

Why did we bail out banks and did not ask them to repay the bail-outs and why no jail for the bankers?  Why did they get billion dollar bonuses but no bail out for hospitals?

Remember the 2 new Stadiums that tax payers were forced to help build yet most can’t afford a seat, popcorn, a hot dog?  Well click the link above to learn more how the Stadiums are robbing us of mega-millions and now hundreds of parks dept. workers will lost their jobs just like all the hospital workers from so many of these hospitals.

Richard Sandler 80’s When Greed Was Good post by Suzannah B. Troy artist

I would always see Richard filming around the neighborhood and we love Angelica’s for great Vegetarian food....great to see his work featured in Time Light Box....

Here is my review of his film from Amazon

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful:
5.0 out of 5 stars Gods of Times Square on the money, foreshadows the death of 'old' New York for shopping mall nycDecember 29, 2007
This review is from: The Gods of Times Square (DVD)
I saw this film when it first came out and I thought it was powerful but now looking back, Richard Sandler's film has grown in importance because post-Sept. 11, under a billionaire mayor and a multi-millionaire socialite city planner came a tsunami of community crushing development mostly all for the mega rich and a kind of shopping mall chain story retail explosion city wide punctuated with banks on every street corner that has robbed NYC of it's soul and originality.

There are grey tones. Do I appreciate feeling safe walking down the streets of Time Square and elsewhere in the city? Yes!!! What Richard Sandler shows us is the make-over and take-over by corporations and I understand some of the positives in terms of a cleaner, safer more pleasant city but ultimately what I didn't realize at the time was that film maker had his pulse on was the end of a kind of dynamism and edginess that made NYC what it is. It seems now that we can't have the best of both worlds and my neighborhood (East Village/Bowery/Lower East Side now looks like a bad xerox of midtown even resembling Time Square)thanks to mayor Mike Bloomberg.

Now we have generic chains stores through out the city and every neighborhood looks the same. Only bars, banks and Starbuck like chain stores can afford this "new city" that under the Bloomberg administration brought sky piercing luxury condos and hotels mostly all for the mega rich reflecting a history destroyed and communities no longer welcome.

Richard Sandler "got it" before any of us and he does leave a lot of grey tones for you to come to your on conclusions. Well done. Time to do another masterful documentary..."Welcome to the "new" hideous New York.

Suzannah B. Troy Fox News Channel Dow Down Deficit Up!

What a day, the heat was unbearable, changed in to a dress, as close to portable air conditioning as I could dream about as I walked with a friend from the MOMA to Times Square.

We past Fox News Channel....all quiet no mention of the hacking scandal but the news the Dow was down was flashing for all to see.

The deficit ceiling went up and that is disastrous news as we see more hospitals closes and small business yet no bail outs.

If only we had not let Hank Paulson broker the most corrupt deal ever abusing or should I say stealing tax payer money to bail out people and institutions that should not and protecting them from 1) arrest and 2) not paying back the tax payers as many got multi-million dollar bonuses and enjoy health insurance and luxuries even more American cannot afford let alone dream about.
